Boone Selected AFIS 2017 Distinguished Alum

EKU's Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems, along with the School of Business, is pleased to announce that Mr. Joshua A. Boone has been selected as their departmental distinguished alum for 2017.

Mr. Boone will be honored during a presentation on Friday, April 21, at the School of Business College to Careers Conference.

The honor is reserved for special alumni who have distinguished themselves in their professions through excellence, dedication, and service.

Boone (2004, BBA Finance, minor in Economics) is currently the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Patrick Industries in Elkhart, Ind. Recently promoted to his new position, Boone has been with the company for two years. As CFO, he is tasked with leading the finance function of a fast growing $1 billion company. Patrick Industries is the leading national manufacturer and supplier of building  and component products to the manufactured housing, recreational vehicle, and industrial markets.

Prior to Patrick Industries, Boone was the Chief Financial Officer at Pretzels, Inc., the second-largest U.S. pretzel manufacturer. Pretzel, Inc., employs 400 at two facilities producing 100 million pounds of total snacks of packaged and bulk pretzel, salty extruded snack, and snack mix products annually. At Pretzel, Inc., he reversed a negative margin and increased sales in the salty extruded snack line, delivering a positive ten-point of gross margin results for 2013. In addition, he lead sourcing, logistics, and facilities operations, delivering more than $2.2M+ in annualized savings.

Boone has also held several key financial positions for Brunswick Corporation. Brunswick is a Fortune 500 consumer products manufacturer and market leader in boats, engines, fitness, and bowling / billiards. At Brunswick, he was Identified as a rising leader and selected as Director of Finance and strategic partner in helping save a struggling division with dwindling sales due to recession. Boone transformed underperforming Brunswick boat division, as a strategic partner to divisional president, driving millions in cost reduction and earnings.

Congratulations Mr. Boone on being selected as the 2017 Distinguished Alum representing the Department of Accounting, Finance, and Information Systems.

The School of Business also honored distinguished seniors for the year as selected by their respective departments. Ms. Kristen Gosnell, an Accounting and English double major from Winchester, Ky., was selected as the AFIS departmental distinguished senior. In addition, recipients of scholarships and awards for the 2016-17 academic year were recognized and honored for their outstanding achievement.
