Recruiting all AFIS majors to represent EKU in the 2017 Annual PEAK Team Challenge
PEAK stands for “Promote & Encourage Accounting in Kentucky”. Colleges from all over the state compete for prizes, including $1,000 scholarships for each person on the winning team. The PEAK competition is a Jeopardy-style contest, in which teams choose from categories related to the Becker study materials for the CPA exam. This is great for anyone interested in taking the CPA exam, since you get a “sneak preview” of the type of questions on the exam, AND you get to retain the material for future studying.
Also, PEAK team members are invited to attend the KYCPA Spring Awards Banquet after the competition. This is a great opportunity to network with local accounting professionals and to witness the newest CPAs being sworn in by the State Attorney General. This is great motivation for anyone interested in pursuing certification!
The competition will be held April 28th in Louisville. Ideally, the team should meet for 4-5 practice sessions between now and April. These practices will be less about material review, and more about familiarizing yourselves with working together as a team.
Please email Michelle Miller (KYCPA Student Ambassador) at firstname.lastname@example.org or Dr. MaryBeth Holbrook at MaryBeth.Holbrook@eku.edu BEFORE October 10th to join the team, and to represent the best of what EKU Business College has to offer!
