AFIS selects Don Bornhorst as 2014 distinguished alum

EKU's Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems, along with the School of Business, is pleased to announce that Mr. Donald T. Bornhorst has been selected as their departmental distinguished alum for 2014.

Mr. Bornhorst was honored during a presentation on Friday, April 4, 2014, at the School of Business College to Careers Conference.

The honor is reserved for special alumni who have distinguished themselves in their professions through excellence, dedication, and service.

Mr. Bornhorst is Senior Vice President of Delta Connection for Delta Air Lines, Inc.

He joined Delta after serving as President of Delta’s regional subsidiary Comair. During his 16 years with Comair, Don worked with each of the airline’s major operational groups.

Prior to becoming President he served as Comair’s Chief Financial Officer. He has also served as Vice President of Information Systems and Senior Vice President of Customers with oversight of Customer and Inflight Services.

Don previously served as Vice President of Performance Management for Delta Connection in 2000 and 2001.

Prior to 2000, Don served in various roles in Finance, Flight Operations, Customer Service and Aircraft Maintenance.

Before joining Comair in 1991, Don worked at Deloitte & Touche as a senior consultant.

Don is a 1987 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus in accounting and he is a Certified Public Accountant.

In addition, Don serves on the Boards of Directors of Holy Family Catholic High, St. Hubert’s Catholic Church, and the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce.

Don lives in Excelsior, Minnesota, with his wife, Donna, and their four children Bethany, Brennan, Bryant and Brielle.

Congratulations Mr. Bornhorst on being selected as the 2014 Distinguished Alum representing the Department of Accounting, Finance, and Information Systems.

The School of Business also honored distinguished seniors for the year as selected by their respective departments. Ms. Shelby Howell, an accounting and finance major from Berea, Ky., was selected as the AFIS departmental distinguished senior. In addition, recipients of scholarships and awards for the 2013-14 academic year were recognized and honored for their outstanding achievement.
