AFIS selects Duran Hall as 2013 distinguished alum

Duran Hall

EKU's Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems, along with the School of Business, is pleased to announce that Mr. Duran Hall has been selected as their departmental distinguished alum for 2013.

Mr. Hall was honored during a presentation on Friday, April 5, 2013, at the annual College of Business and Technology College to Careers senior recognition luncheon.

The honor is reserved for special alumni who have distinguished themselves in their professions through excellence, dedication, and service.

Mr. Hall earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Insurance and Real Estate from EKU in 1990.  He has 22 years of insurance industry experience in a variety of progressively more responsible roles.

Immediately after graduating from EKU, Federated Mutual chose him to market insurance programs in Central Kentucky. It was not long before the company moved him to Arizona where he grew their independent agency system into a regional leader.  When brought back to Ohio, he led his newly hired and trained team to a 100 percent increase in sales in just five years time.

Finally back in Kentucky in 2004, Mr. Hall became the first employee of Maverick Insurance.  One of the fastest growing companies in the Louisville metro area, it grew to 11 locations in 4 states and now is part of AssuredPartners, a national insurance broker.

Today, Mr. Hall is Senior Vice President and Director of Community Markets for Neace Lukens in Louisville – industry leader in partnership with AssuredPartners, Inc.

Congratulations Mr. Hall on being selected as the 2013 Distinguished Alum representing the Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems.

The college also honored distinguished seniors for the year as selected by their respective departments within the College of Business and Technology. Ms. Brittany Neaves, an accounting major from Mt. Sterling, Ky., was selected as the AFIS departmental distinguished senior. In addition, recipients of scholarships and awards for the 2012-13 academic year were recognized. Students were honored for outstanding achievement and more than 40 area employers were on hand to engage in networking activities with college graduating seniors.
