AFIS selects Steve Hardy as 2011 distinguished alum
EKU's Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems is pleased to announce that Mr. Steven C. Hardy has been selected as their departmental distinguished alum for 2011.
Mr. Hardy was honored during a presentation on Friday, April 1, 2011, at the annual College of Business and Technology College to Careers senior recognition luncheon.
The honor is reserved for special alumni who have distinguished themselves in their professions through excellence, dedication, and service.
Mr. Hardy earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from EKU in 1989.

He began his career in the Risk Management group at JPMorganChase. While at Chase, he delivered internal audit and regulatory compliance services to the Retail Banking, Enterprise Operations, and Human Resources divisions for the Kentucky and West Virginia region. In just a few years, he was promoted to corporate headquarters and specialized in risk management solutions for the national Corporate Cash Management division.
Looking for a career change, Mr. Hardy left risk management to focus on human resources and in 1998 joined the international accounting firm of Arthur Andersen. In 2002, Mr. Hardy joined Deloitte & Touche, the world’s largest professional services firm, where he held a number of human resource leadership positions supporting the Tax, Human Capital, and Shared Services functions. In his last role at Deloitte, he led the national HR Project Management Office and was responsible for the off-shoring of HR operations, compliance, and reporting services to Deloitte’s HR Support Center in India.
It wasn’t long before another of the “Big Four” professional services firms, KPMG, recruited him to join them as the Southwest Area Human Resources Director. In that role, he was responsible for leading the Southwest Area HR team in delivering HR services to over 3,000 professionals. In 2009, he moved into a national Human Resource role and is currently the National Human Resources Director providing all strategic, consultative, and tactical HR services to KPM’s 5,000-person Advisory practice.
Over the years, Mr. Hardy has been involved in several community service groups, including the Salvation Army, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Bluegrass, Habitat for Humanity, Music For All, and Canine Assistants. Mr. Hardy gives generously of his time to his alma mater serving on the EKUBusiness Advisory Council and as the College of Business and Technology Distinguished Speaker in 2008. He and his wife, Tracie, currently reside in Dallas, Texas.
Congratulations Mr. Hardy on being selected as the 2011 Distinguished Alum representing the Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems.
