AFIS selects Steven McKinley as 2008 distinguished alum
EKU's Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems is pleased to announce that Mr. Steven A. McKinley has been selected as their departmental distinguished alum for 2008.
Mr. McKinley was honored during a presentation on Friday, April 4, 2008, at the annual College of Business and Technology College to Careers senior recognition luncheon.
The honor is reserved for special alumni who have distinguished themselves in their professions through excellence, dedication, and service.
Mr. McKinley received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from EKU in 1981.
He is the Regional Director of Recruiting for Deloitte & Touche’s North Central Region overseeing Campus and Experienced Recruiting that encompasses hiring 800 people for fourteen locations throughout six states. Beginning his career as an auditor with Arthur Andersen, Mr. McKinley moved into the Human Resources and Recruiting arena more than fifteen years ago.
He joined the Cincinnati Audit Practice of Arthur Andersen upon graduation from Eastern Kentucky University in 1981. After several years, he transitioned from the Audit Practice to Human Resources and Recruiting. His last position at Andersen was the Regional Recruiting Director for the Great Lakes Region.
After his 20 years with Andersen, Mr. McKinley spent a year with Fifth Third Bank as Vice-President-Director of Bancorp Recruiting. He was responsible for overseeing all recruiting needs for 19 affiliate locations throughout a nine-state footprint.
His wife Jodie, also an EKU alumna, and three daughters live in Anderson Township, a suburb of Cincinnati. A member of the board of Habitat for Humanity, the M.E. Lyons YMCA, and the Business Advisory Board for the College of Mount St. Joseph and Xavier University, Mr. McKinley also co-teaches a class on Leadership Development and Networking at the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University.
Congratulations, Mr. McKinley, on being selected as the 2008 Distinguished Alumnus representing the Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems.
The college also honored distinguished seniors for the year as selected by their respective departments within the College of Business and Technology. Ms. Julia Crain was selected as the AFIS departmental distinguished senior. In addition, recipients of scholarships and awards for the 2007-08 academic year were recognized. Students were honored for outstanding achievement and more than 40 area employers were on hand to engage in networking activities with college graduating seniors.
