AFIS selects William Adams as 2006 distinguished alum
EKU's Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems is pleased to announce that Mr. William E. Adams has been selected as their departmental distinguished alum for 2006.
Mr. Adams was honored during a presentation on Friday, April 7, 2006, at the annual College of Business and Technology College to Careers senior recognition luncheon.
The honor is reserved for special alumni who have distinguished themselves in their professions through excellence, dedication, and service.
Mr. William E. Adams, CPA (1940, Bachelor of Business; Military Science Minor), Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems
After graduating from EKU in 1940, Mr. Adams entered military service as a Second Lieutenant. During his distinguished military career, he served in the European Theater and was discharged in 1946 with the rank of Major. He was awarded five battle stars as well as the Bronze Star Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters.
Mr. Adams later became a Certified Public Accountant and founded Adams, Hill, McDaniels & Co. accounting firm here in Richmond in which he remains an active partner. He also served one term on the Kentucky State Board of Accountancy.
As a strong supporter of EKU programs, Mr. Adams was one of the organizers of the EKU Colonel Club and has also been active in the community serving as President of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, President of the Richmond Rotary Club and member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board.
The college also honored distinguished seniors for the year as selected by their respective departments within the College of Business and Technology. In addition, recipients of scholarships and awards for the 2005-06 academic year were recognized. Students were honored for outstanding achievement and more than 40 area employers were on hand to engage in networking activities with college graduating seniors.
