College to Career Seminar Preps Seniors for Success

Seniors role play interviewing skills

Graduating seniors from the Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems participated in a full morning of activities in the BTS 400 College to Careers Student Success Seminar. Required for all business students expecting to graduate this year, the spring-only seminar featured concurrent sessions and professional profile photos.

This year's AFIS Distinguished Alum, Mr. Joshua Boone ('04 Finance, Economics Minor) brought remarks and later hosted one of the concurrent sessions, "From EKU to CFO: You Can Too!" Boone has held several key financial positions for Brunswick Corporation and later as CFO at Pretzels, Inc., the second-largest U.S. pretzel manafacturer. He is currently CFO of Patrick Industries in Elkhart, Ind., the leading national manufacturer and supplier of building and component products to the manufactured housing, recreational vehicle, and industrial markets.

Additional concurrent sessions included:

  • "Get in and Move Up: Interviewing Dos & Don'ts" - Deb Jones, Associate Director of EKU Center for Career & Co-op; Career Specialists Mandy Harrison and Emily Emberton
  • "Work Your Way Up" - Carla McCarty, Executive Vice President of Accounting, Tempur Sealy International

Accounting senior Brandon Labelle made the most of his day saying, "...the BTS 400 seminar was very helpful and rewarding. I got to network with some extremely successful people and cannot begin to explain the gratitude that I have for this opportunity."

Special thanks to Mr. Jerry Isaacs for providing photography for the day.
