Government relations in banking was identified earlier this year by Ballard Cassady, President & CEO of Kentucky Bankers Association and previous Kentucky Commissioner of Financial Institutions, as an important and often under-studied topic in undergraduate banking programs.  With the historic legislation passed by Congress since 2008 on regulation in the financial services industry, and the impact that legislation has on the way banks operate, there is certainly an abundance of material to study.  While a full course on the subject has not yet been designed, the Finance Faculty have developed a unit on Government Relations in Banking that is part of the curriculum in FIN 437, Bank Management, taught by Maggie Abney this semester.
