Perry selected as AFIS 2015 distinguished alum
EKU's Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems, along with the School of Business, is pleased to announce that Ms. April Russell Perry has been selected as their departmental distinguished alum for 2015.
Ms. Perry was honored during a presentation on Friday, April 17, at the School of Business College to Careers Conference.
The honor is reserved for special alumni who have distinguished themselves in their professions through excellence, dedication, and service.
Ms. Perry, a native of Ashland, Ky., is Chairman of the Board and CEO of Kentucky Farmers Bank in Ashland.
She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance/Investments in 1986 from Eastern Kentucky University and returned home to work as Auditor and then Controller for Kentucky Farmers Bank. In 1989, she was elected to the Board of Directors for Kentucky Farmers Bank and has continued serving on the Board. April moved to Lexington and returned to Eastern Kentucky University to earn her MBA in 1996. In 2007, April returned to Ashland and was named Chairman of the Board and CEO of Kentucky Farmers Bank, a community bank with three locations in Boyd County, Ky.
April believes in community service and giving back to her community. She serves on the Paramount Arts Center Board and Executive Committee, the Foundation for the Tri-State Community where she serves as the Kentucky Vice Chair, the King’s Daughters Health Foundation Board, the United Way of Northeast KY Board, EKU’s President’s Leadership Council, Ashland Alliance Board and is chair of the Bank On Northeast KY initiative. She is a member of Ashland Rotary and the Paramount Women’s Association.
April met her husband Don Perry at EKU. They have been married for 28 years and have two children, Connor (also a graduate of EKU) and Kendall (currently a student at EKU). April enjoys gardening, cooking and hiking.
Congratulations Ms. Perry on being selected as the 2015 Distinguished Alum representing the Department of Accounting, Finance, and Information Systems.
The School of Business also honored distinguished seniors for the year as selected by their respective departments. Mr. Samuel Shearer, an accounting major from Winchester, Ky., was selected as the AFIS departmental distinguished senior. In addition, recipients of scholarships and awards for the 2014-15 academic year were recognized and honored for their outstanding achievement.
