Study abroad experience creates successful international business career
At Eastern Kentucky University, we not only have the best graduates, but also the best mentors!
Recent graduate Matt Robinson, like many alumni, is still in contact with Dr. Ed Fenton, and wanted to reach back and showcase all his accomplishments. Robinson, from Rye High School in Union, Ky., earned a dual degree in International Business from EKU in 2010, completing a Bachelor of International Business and a Bachelor of Management Studies from Avans Hogeschool Breda.
Robinson is currently employed as Chief Business Development Officer for Indelac Controls, Inc., in the Cincinnati area.
To Dr. Fenton, Robinson shared the following: “The opportunity to go to China with you set my life on a profoundly different path. Little did I realize it at the time but you single handedly set in motion a set of events that have made me a successful international businessman.”
The trip Mr. Robinson references above is one that is generally offered annually by Dr. Fenton. Students must register for a specific course in their given disciplines in order to attend.
The class conducts business visits to a variety of companies such as manufacturing, marketing, public accounting, and others. Included in the travel are some popular cultural destinations such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and Tiananmen Square.
Students also have the opportunity to conduct research of their own while on the trip, related to his or her field of study.
Indelac Controls, Inc. is an international actuator company, dedicated to providing the best service possible to their customers. They utilize state of the art technology, and are looking to become more energy efficient as well.
