Whitehouse Named 2018 AFIS Distinguished Senior

Mr. Timothy M. Whitehouse has been named the 2018 Distinguished Senior for EKU's Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems. He will be honored during a presentation on Friday, April 13, at the School of Business College to Careers Conference.

The student is selected based on superior academic achievement, excellent leadership, citizenship, character and services to EKU.

Whitehouse, from Elizabethtown, is graduating this May with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Managerial Accountng, a Minor in Military Science and Leadership, plus a certificate in German. During his academic career, he maintained a nearly perfect GPA and earned a number of leadership recognitions including the Distinguished Military Graduate and George C. Marshal Top Cadet Award for 2017. Whitehouse is also a member of the top business academic society, Beta Gamma Sigma.

Along with a rigorous accounting curriculum, Whitehouse also excelled in EKU's ROTC Battalion. He served as 1st Sergeant and then later Executive Officer of EKU's Pershing Rifles Romeo-1 Chapter; Platoon Sergeant of the EKU Army ROTC, advancing to Battalion commander.

Additionally, he served as Captain of the German Armed Forces Team. Special trainings included the Lithuania Cultural Understanding and Language Proficiency Program, Airborne School Parachutist Course, Army ROTC Cadet Initial Entry Training, and Army ROTC Advanced Camp Summer Training.

Well respected by faculty, Whitehouse was chosen to represent the student body on the Business Curriculum and Assessment Committee and the College of Business and Technology Curriculum Committee.

Whitehouse continued to enhance his academic and professional credentials with accounting internships that included helping compile key components in building criminal investigations.

He is a Kentucky Commonwealth Ambassador and Silver level Presidential Volunteer Award recipient.

Congratulations to Timothy Whitehouse on being selected as the 2018 distinguished senior representing the Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems.

At the conference, the School of Business honored distinguished seniors and distinguished alumni from each of its academic departments. Ms. Tracy Wilkerson was selected as the AFIS departmental distinguished alum. In addition, recipients of scholarships and awards for the 2017-18 academic year were recognized and honored for their outstanding achievement.
