Alan Long named to EKU Board of Regents

The Eastern Kentucky University Board of Regents, meeting in regular session on Monday, Jan. 13, welcomed two new members and elected officers.

The Board’s newest members are Alan Long, CPA and managing partner of Baldwin CPAs, PLLC, in Richmond; and Holly Wiedemann, Wilmore, an architect, developer and founder of AU Associates in Lexington.

Dr. Haibo Stephen Yao successfully defended his dissertation in Finance at Mississippi State University this past Tuesday.  Capping off a very productive fall semester, Dr. Yao has also had two working papers accepted for presentation at conferences next year.

CIS Club Students Tour Ashland Facilities

On Mon., Oct. 14, 2013, students of the Computer Information Systems (CIS) Club accompanied by Dr. Robert Mahaney, Professor of Information Systems, toured the Ashland, Inc., facilities to experience firsthand a typical day as an Information Technology (IT) professional. The CIS Club is a student run organization open to any students who are interested in IT, and is advised by Dr. Mahaney.

Holbrook Named Dyer Excellence in Teaching Award Recipient

Scholar Athlete: Lauren Fant

Accounting major Lauren Fant is among a trio of 2012 first team All-OVC performers who will attempt to lead Eastern to its first-ever conference title this fall. The Eastern Kentucky University women's soccer team has been picked by league coaches and sports information directors to finish fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference this season.

Scholar Athlete: Erica Wesstrom

Accounting major Erica Wesstrom was one of 23 EKU student-athletes awarded an Ohio Valley Conference Medal of Honor for the 2012-13 academic year.

Medals of Honor are awarded to the student-athletes who earn the highest grade point averages (GPA) in each conference sponsored sport and this past year. All of the honorees achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA.
